:: Week 2 Weigh-in ::

This week's weigh-in is a day or two late do to the LA trip. This week's weight is 209.4. And the photos:


:: Day 9 ::

Breakfast:
  • V8
  • Nutrigrain blueberry breakfast bar
Lunch:
  • 3 small fish tacos w/ cabbage, salsa, gaucamole, sourcream
  • side of fruit salad
Snack:
  • Handful of cashews
Dinner:
  • Caprese salad (mozzarella, tomato, basil, balsamic vinegar)
  • Chicken & potato w/ red curry
  • Prawns & eggplant w/ sweet sauce
  • White rice
Tonight I used the treadmill for 40 minutes, 15 of which was at a 6mph run (1.5 miles). My coworkers told me about a 5k run coming up on September 17. It's the "Palo Alto Moonlight Run". It's in the evening under a full moon. I think I'll be ready for it.

:: Day 8 ::

Breakfast:
  • Banana nut muffin
Lunch:
  • 1/2 of a quarter pound hamburger w/ grilled onion and mushrooms
  • 1/2 portion of french fries (I split lunch w/ Iris)
  • cup of cream of broccoli
Dinner:
  • Chicken & Potato w/ red curry
  • Prawns & eggplant in sweet sauce
  • White rice
After a full day of driving, putting stuff away, and settling back in at home, no exercise occurred.

:: Day 7 ::

Breakfast:
  • Banana nut muffin
Lunch:
  • 3 slices of quesadilla w/ whole wheat tortilla
Snack:
  • Pita chips w/ hummus
  • Veggies and dip
Dinner:
  • Tri-tip
  • BBQ chicken leg
  • Coleslaw w/ vinegarette dressing
  • Pasta salad w/ bay shrimp
  • 1 small scoop vanilla ice cream
An hour and a half of casual swimming. I intend to start providing better estimates of portion size. If I can obtain a cheap digital camera, the ideal solution would be to photograph my portions.

:: Day 6 ::

Brunch:
  • Half of a salad w/ ranch on the side
  • Small chicken, mushroom, and garlic pizza
Dinner:
  • 4 BBQ chicken wings
  • 1 cup of salad w/ lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, creamy dressing
  • 3 slices of pizza
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • 1 beer
  • 1 slice of apple cake
No real exercise to speak of. Since we were on vacation, calories don't count. ;)

:: Day 5 (Liam is a slacker) ::

Breakfast:
  • Banana nut muffin
Lunch:
  • Small burrito. Contained carne asada, beans, rice, cheese, gaucamole, sour cream, tomato, onion, and salsa. I'm also sure that it contained a helping of pure sin.
  • 1/3 of a soft serve sundae from McDonalds
Dinner:
  • SUSHI! A shload of nigiri, some baked mussels, oodles of rolls, seaweed salad, and 1 tempura shrimp.
  • 1/3 bottle of unfiltered sake
  • 1/2 of a large bottle of Sapporo (beer)
The only exercise today was running after miniature people (aka., children), and walking with my cousin as he walked his dog.

:: Day 4 ::

Breakfast:
  • Toast w/ nonfat cottage cheese
  • 1 hard boiled egg w/o yolk
  • Fresh fruit (cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon)
Lunch:
  • Sushi! (5 pieces nigiri, 3 pieces california roll, 4 pieces spicy tuna roll)
Snack:
  • half-handful of cashews
  • peach (so delicious)
Dinner:
  • Baked scallops
  • Leftover mac & cheese
  • Salad w/ lettuce. tomato, avocado, oil and vinegar
  • banana nut muffin

No excercise today, other than hauling stuff out of storage (lifting weights?). We're preparing for our trip to LA, and want to leave first thing in the morning, so we're bustling to get whatever needs to be done, done.

Excercise

This evening I walked at a brisk pace around the local elementary school's track for 45 minutes, pushing Gray in the stroller. It's amazing how he doesn't go stir crazy. He's such a great kid.

I'll be changing up the format of the posts beginning tommorrow. I'll do a single post a day, instead of the separate meal/exercise posts.

Meals

Breakfast:
  • 2 hard boiled eggs (only ate 1 yolk)
  • Whole wheat toast w/ nonfat cottage cheese
Lunch:
  • Half turkey sandwich (lettuce, grilled pepper, pepperoncini, mustard, mayo, whole wheat bread)
  • Salad (lettuce, carrots, edamame, mushroom, cucumber, 5 croutons, oil & vinegar)
  • Banana
Snack:
  • Handful of cashews
Dinner:
  • Salad w/ lettuce, tomato, avocado, and oil & vinegar dressing
  • Small fish filet (breaded and baked)
  • mac & cheese (leftover from last night)
Misc:
  • 2.0 L of water

Excercise

Tonight I went to the Gym. I used the treadmill for 40 minutes, 10 consecutive minutes of which was at a run. 2 easy sets of bicep curls and overhead presses on the free weights.

Meals

Breakfast:
  • Slice of toast, with nonfat cottage cheese
  • Fruit (cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon)
Lunch:
  • 2 small soft tacos (steak, onion, tomato, salsa)
  • Fruit salad (cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon, honeydew)
  • 2 bananas
Snack:
  • Brocolli, raisins, edamame, cucumber, melon, banana
Dinner:
  • Grilled chicken breast
  • Rice pasta macaroni w/ brussel sprouts, bacon, and cheese (seriously Iris? ;) )
  • Brownie
Misc:
  • 1.5 liters of water

Excercise

Iris, Gray, and I walked for 40 minutes after dinner, at a brisk pace. Alright, technically Gray didn't walk, but he was present the whole time. ;)

Meals

Breakfast:
  • 1 slice of whole wheat toast w/ margarine
  • fresh fruit (cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple)
  • small orange juice
Lunch:
  • 1 small salad w/ artichoke heart, tomato, olive and red onion
  • 4 falafel balls
  • 1 toasted pita
  • small nonfat milk
Snack:
  • Banana
Dinner:
  • Shrimp taco (soft shell, guacamole, sour cream, cabbage, salsa, onions, peppers)
  • Tiny bit of steak (2 oz?)
  • Brownie
Misc:
  • 2 L of water

In the beginning, there was flubber...

Today, on my 32nd birthday, I'm initiating this journey. I'll be posting regular updates on my progress, for family and friends to check-in and observe that I haven't slacked off. I'll do a weekly weigh in and photo update. So, here's where it all begins:




Ugh. I have quite a lot of work ahead of me. My starting weight is 210 lbs. Wish me luck.
